Here is the update to Liberia. My son and I decided that June, 2026 is the best time for us to reschedule our trip. Technically it’s after he graduates high school, so I’ll miss my original goal by a month. On the positive side, my middle son decided he would like to go with us! It will be nice to take two of my sons on the same trip.
That means more fundraising is required. This is the most difficult part for me. It’s hard to ask other people to donate money. It would be more comfortable for me to budget and save the money on my own. That’s not what the church wants. Fundraising and being uncomfortable is part of the experience. It’s also about doing new things and seeing where God shows up. Most importantly, it’s about sharing my faith; sharing my trip; and welcoming others to be a part of the journey with me.
Will you be a part of the journey with us? We’ve decided that if we can reach our goal and raise $5000 more for the trip then we will stretch ourselves to make and bring 1000 frames with us to Malawi. Pictures are a luxury where we are going so picture frames are unknown. However, the group going has photographers. The group will bring portable printers and printer paper. My family will bring 4×6 picture frames with the sample image my son designed. Then we can replace the pictures there with ones the group takes on our adventure!

The frames are going to be unfinished and imperfect. We’re also selling frames locally and giving them out as Christmas gifts. For me it’s a practice to fight the urge to be perfect. For them its an opportunity to decorate the frame however they see fit.
