One of a Kind: Liberia 2024 Edition
For Sale
Picture Number: Liberia 00
This image was designed by my son specifically for his Liberia trip. Also the frame is the first one we made together. Take a look. It’s not perfect. There are flaws and mistakes, but that’s OK. If you’re interested in this framed photo it will not be delivered until after October of 2024 because we are using it for all our mobile in-person events.
Material: Redwood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 3/8″ S-round Sheen: satin Decoration: Double Flat Groove
Canvas Dimensions: 16″ x 20″ x 1″ As Framed Dimensions: 17.75″ x 21.5″ x 1.5″
Picture Number: Liberia 01
This is image #1 of 5 in a set that my son designed specifically for his Liberia trip. The frames are also intended to show a variety of frame styles that are possible. This one is a low profile frame where the canvas is actually deeper than the frame. My son is hoping to be a pilot after he graduates high school and the picture show is love of planes ever since he was a toddler. (No he hasn’t been paragliding yet, but he’s dreaming of it)
Material: Cedar Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 1/4″ Round Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 15.25″ x 12.5″ x 1″
Picture Number: Liberia 02
This is image #2 of 5 in a set that my son designed specifically for his Liberia trip. He has also loved snow covered mountains from a young age when he and I first went to Colorado Springs. Then his aunt took him to her favorite spot in the Swiss Alps. The frame is reclaimed wood that was intentionally left a little rough. The frame design is narrow from head on view, but shows off its depth from an angle.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 1/4″ Round Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 14.75″ x 11.75″ x 1.5″
Picture Number: Liberia 03
This is image #3 of 5 in a set that my son designed specifically for his Liberia trip. These valleys are mostly near our house: Oak Creek Canyon, Tonto National Park, Lake Cuyamaca, the Grand Canyon. The frame design is opposite of #2 and shows off a low of width even though it is not very deep.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 3/8″ S-Round Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 15.75″ x 12.75″ x 1.25″
Picture Number: Liberia 04
This is image #4 of 5 in a set that my son designed specifically for his Liberia trip. Being from Arizona it’s always a treat to see the ocean–usually the Pacific. This is a sample floating frame where the canvas stands out proud of the frame.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: none Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 15″ x 12″ x 1.75″

This is image #5 of 5 in a set that my son designed specifically for his Liberia trip. This is the most minimalist frame I can make. It is 1/2″ Japanese Cedar with a dark stain to help accent the knots. For this one the frame sits on top of the canvas since it’s not as deep as the canvas.
Material: Japanese Cedar Finish: Dark walnut oil with beeswax Bevel: 1/4″ Round Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 15″ x 11.75″ x 1.25″

This image is a personal favorite of mine as it is one of the first semi-professional photos I took while on my honeymoon. It was taken in Iao Valley on Maui. It’s made out of reclaimed wood, but you can’t tell unless you take it off the wall and look at the back of the frame. I think it turned out beautifully.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: none Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 16″ x 20″ x 1.5″ As Framed Dimensions: 18″ x 22″ x 2″

This image is from our 2023 Mexico Mission Trip. It’s intentionally imperfect to symbolize even though we are all imperfect God still loves every one of us. There are massive rocks on this beach, but it makes for great exploring when the waves aren’t too rough. The reclaimed wood has many imperfections to match the rocks on the beach. If you look closely you can see the weathered edge of the wood touching the canvas. Overall I find the image and the frame exquisitely perfect, in spite of all the imperfections.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: none Sheen: satin Decoration: Imperfections

My wife always dreamed of seeing the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. One year I was able to make it happen with two of our sons. We had a great time and took this picture from Brooklyn of the Statue of Liberty. The colors are stunning.

I dreamed of going to Australia when I was a kid and never really expected to get there. My wife always wanted to travel with me. One of her friends went on a short term assignment near Sydney and invited us to stay with them. I’m glad we found the funds and took them up on their offer. This is the Sydney Opera House viewed from Pylon Lookout. In the second image you can see the repair of an imperfect section of wood. It adds an additional highlight of color to the side of the frame. The canvas is deeper than the frame so the frame slightly floats away from the wall.
Material: Redwood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 5/32″ Roman Ogee Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 12″ x 24″ x 1.5″ As Framed Dimensions: 13.75″ x 25.75″ x 2″

This is one of the first frames I made with my son when we were testing different finished and decorations. The image is a Rainbow Hibiscus. My wife and I always wanted a destination wedding, but could not afford it. Instead we decided to renew our vows in 2018 with all three of our boys in Kauai. My wife snapped this beautiful photo while we were there. Hibiscus also grows in Arizona and is my favorite flower. I picked the deep frame for this small image because it will easily stand on a desk if you don’t want to hang it on a wall.
Material: Redwood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 1/4″ S-round Sheen: satin Decoration: Ovolo Groove
Canvas Dimensions: 8″ x 8″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 9.75″ x 9.75″ x 1.5″

This is one of the first frames I made with my son when we were testing different finished and decorations. I love the contrast, depth, and dimension of this image. It’s one of my favorite pictures from our Switzerland trip. The location is called Aareschlucht, which is a natural gorge formed by a glacier. I picked the deep frame for this small image because it will easily stand on a desk if you don’t want to hang it on a wall.
Material: Redwood Finish: Transparent polyurethane Bevel: 1/4″ S-round Sheen: satin Decoration: Two-toned redwood

This is the epitome of of reclaimed wood. I’m shocked it didn’t break during the building process. The termite holes are so deep there was daylight visible through the frame. However all of that has been filled in with beeswax and now it has a lot of character to it.
Material: Reclaimed Wood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: none Sheen: satin Decoration: Termite holes filled with beeswax
Canvas Dimensions: 11″ x 14″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 12.75″ x 15.75″ x 1.25″

My wife and I took our first trip to Europe a couple years after our oldest son was born. She always loved Monet and Paris so we went to Monet’s actual cottage in Giverny and got pictures of his pond and the famous lily pads.

My wife and I went whale watching in California. It’s hard to get a good picture of the whales, but the tour guide helped us to get lots of good pictures of dolphins.

This is one of my favorite places to go hiking: Tonto Natural Bridge. I’ve taken all the kids here multiple times. It just a short hike down below the natural bridge, then it looks like an open cave that you can hike in. There’s usually some water falling down. The amount depends on the recent rainfall.
Material: Redwood Finish: Natural Danish oil with beeswax Bevel: 5/32” S round Sheen: satin Decoration: none
Canvas Dimensions: 8″ x 8″ x 0.75″ As Framed Dimensions: 10″ x 10″ x 1.5″

The original is also for sale if anyone can convince my wife to part with it. I bought the tools to make picture frames from an elderly family friend. It was essentially a garage worth of tools that he agreed to sell me for $500 as long as I continued to put them to use since he was getting to old to use them anymore. There are a lot of mistakes and sloppiness. That’s because it was the very first one I made it 2011. It’s been on display in my garage workshop ever since.
Material: Redwood Finish: Satin polyurethane Bevel: 5/32” Roman ogee (S round with step) Sheen: satin Decoration: none

Bracelets
My middle son decided to make bracelets to help support our fundraising. Feel free to request one if you make a donation. He’ll also make custom colors for you if you ask! You can also see what our mobile booth looks like for anyone that didn’t find us locally.
The colors are from the Liberian flag and he typed up what each color symbolizes.
