There were a lot of reasons not to go this year. We are still trying to finish frames. I’m going to be gone for 3 weeks in June. There’s a lot going on at work. However, I felt like we should still go and Nathan agreed. Then we joined the pre-meeting to see the tasks. They asked if anyone has done tile work before. Only two people raised their hands. I was nominated to lead. I’ve done some tile jobs before, but I haven’t tiled the floor of the whole church. I brought the tools I have and prayed the pastor would have a wet tile saw and someone there to lead.
When we showed up we were informed we wouldn’t have to do tile after all. Not only did the pastor have someone to lead, he also talked them into assembling a small team to do the work. That meant Nathan and I could work on painting instead of tiling. Also, the whole Justice University soccer team was going to help us. That gave me some anxiety trying to paint with so many people while they are trying to tile. We ended up calling the team and telling them they could relax on Friday while Nathan and I did trim work. Then they came in Saturday and knocked out the rest of the painting. It went well. We even had time to watch the soccer game!
